SFWIN bases its work on Christian values.
God said:
'I hate all your show and pretense -
the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies...
Away with your noisy hymns of praise!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice,
an endless river of righteous living.' - Amos 5:21-24
In God's kingdom, the last will be first and the first will be last (Matthew 20:16). Jesus welcomed the marginalised while condemning the powerful. Social involvement is rooted in the character of God. He is the God who upholds the cause of the oppressed, who provides for the poor and liberates the prisoner; he sustains the vulnerable. (Chester, 2004).
Addressing King Jehoahaz through the prophet Jeremiah, God reminds him of his father Josiah: "He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?" declares the Lord' (Jer. 22:16)
